About Aquatech Adventures

In 1995, Larry Babcock started observing the scuba training that was available in the Evansville area. Larry saw a need for change in the diving industry and decided something needed to be done. Larry then developed his training center to fit all divers’ needs and desires. He wanted all of his students to be comfortable in the water while, at the same time, protecting the precious reefs of the world with good buoyancy control and skills. Larry continued to build up his training center over the years and started to not only offer top-of-the-line dive training, but also group trips, equipment service, and equipment sales. He continued to run the shop until March of 2025. 

Ironically, in 1995, Steven Gough was a 16-year-old who was curious about the underwater world. He decided to get certified as an open water diver through another shop in Evansville. As the years went by, life became busy and diving became less of a priority. Fast forward some years, Steven met his wife, Brandy, and they had 3 children. In 2016, as they were moving into their new house, their oldest daughter stumbled across Steven’s old scuba gear. That sparked many questions and Ellison became very curious. She then decided to get certified as an open water diver and Steven took a refresher course with her through Aquatech and opened up a new-found passion for the sport. That’s when Steven realized the solid principles taught through Aquatech. From there, it’s all history. They are now a family of 4 divers and one that prefers to stay on land. In March of 2025, the Gough’s purchased Aquatech Scuba Center from Larry and created Aquatech Adventures based on the same principles of Larry’s original vision. They are proud to continue building on the foundation that Larry created.
